Sandra Mannila

Sandra Mannila was born and raised in Greater Toronto Area but has spent significant portions of her life in Northern Ontario along the shores of Lake Superior. She moved to Ottawa in 2008 to attend The University of Ottawa where she studied fine arts and creative writing. Mannila graduated with a BFA in 2013. Mannila's work is an ongoing study of ‘self’ through womanhood and sexuality, cultural heritage and folk mythology, as well as the intersections of past and present history fantastical or otherwise. Her writing is strongly influenced by her cultural heritage (Finnish, Swedish, and Ojibway) and queer identity. She currently lives and works in Ottawa, Ontario.
