Editor’s Notes

Greetings readers. Welcome to the February issue. Hopefully you've had your fill of Valentine's or Olympics' chocolates and are ready to enjoy some poetry. This issue features three poems for your pleasure. These poems run the gamut from word sonnet to rhyme.

Also in this month's issue, Catharine Carroll's article on the John Newlove Poetry Award Reading which took place at the Ottawa International Writers Festival last October.

This month is filling up with excellent literary events from all your favourite reading series, including Tree, House Band, a b and Sasquatch. Check the calendar for these and more.

In addition to the calendar, it's also a good idea to go to the Bywords' news pages for info about new books by local authors, calls for submission, contests, workshops and more.

Recently one of the editors of the New Quarterly interviewed me about Bywords on the blog the Literary Type. You can find the interview here: http://theliterarytype.ca/?p=1197
