Editor’s Notes

Greetings readers,

This month's issue features poetry by two writers who we've never published before, one of whom is a university student from Carleton and the other a communications graduate. I'm glad to see that current and former Ottawa residents, students and workers are still finding out about Bywords.ca and sending us poems.

We marked the beginning of the tenth year of the Bywords Quarterly Journal at Collected Works earlier this month with our reading. Despite the mild and sunny weather, we had a great turn out. Thanks to our readers: A.M. Benoit, Mary Lee Bragg, Seymour Mayne and S. Elizabeth McGee who gave great readings and to our fabulous musician, John Gilles, a poet in his own right who regaled us with music on his keyboard. We are grateful to the City of Ottawa for its funding and to Collected Works for allowing us the use of its gorgeous space. We look forward to our summer and fall readings at the store later this year.

Thanks to our selection committee:

Janie Beriault
Gwen Guth
Pamela Mosher
Kemisha Newman
Claudia Coutu Radmore
Sarah-Grace Ross
Carol A. Stephen
JC Sulzenko

Thanks to all who submitted poetry this month and to our readers and the stores that sell copies of the Bywords Quarterly Journal: Mother Tongue Books, Mags N Fags, and Bejamin Books.

If you have questions, suggestions, comments or gorgeous spring light to offer, please e-mail me at amanda@bywords.ca or come chat with me at one of the aforementioned events.
