Editor’s Notes

Greetings dear readers,

We have a great issue for you this month with poetry by an actor, a beekeeper and a folk mythology student. Hope you enjoy the poems.

Did we see you at the Bywords table at the recent spring edition of the Ottawa Small Press Fair? Bywords sold copies of the John Newlove Award Chapbook series and the former Bywords Quarterly Journal. It was great to speak to fellow vendors and passersby about small press and literary activities in the city and elsewhere. It's always heartening to hear that Ottawans are consulting the Bywords.ca events calendar. Also it's great to meet newcomers to Ottawa to let them know about our thriving literary scene. rob mclennan runs a fine fair with a variety of interesting small press and independent publishers. It was fun to chat with everyone.

Don't forget to support your local small presses by purchasing books and chapbooks. We have links on the site to Apt. 9 Press, above/ground press, Buschek Books, In/Words, phafours and more. Check both the blog and links sections.

June marks the end of a few reading series in Ottawa for the summer, but there are still plenty of readings to attend, along with some interesting writers workshops and circles in and outside of the city. Take a look at the Bywords.ca news section for more information.
